Get the edge on your working week and sharpen up for summer, with a 6-week dynamic practice led by Simone Ellis. We’ll meet early Monday mornings and work fluidly, at pace, through a range of asana including standing poses, backbends, arm balances and inversions. At the end of each session, you’ll feel lighter, stronger, more alive and infinitely more spacious, ready to embrace the week ahead.  By the end of the series, you’ll have challenged yourself, deepened your practice and shifted some paradigms and boundaries. Some yoga experience is required. If you have injuries or constraints, they may be accommodated but please reach out to discuss before signing up. Looking forward!

Backbends are a vital part of our practice. They tone, strengthen and mobilise the spine, and create space in the chest and front body. This improves breathing, circulation and digestion. Overall, backbends keep the body supple and bring energy, vitality and lightness. They lift the spirits. But they can present a challenge, especially if done irregularly. They need to be practiced on a regular basis ..not just once a month during backbend week.

Peta will lead a 6 week early morning backbend practice series in November and December. The focus will be on warming the body up in the key areas required to move into backbends…the arms and shoulders, the legs and pelvis, and from there the spine.

Peta will be on the mat with you, doing and calling the poses.  Suitable for General level (L2) students, and students who have been regularly attending Mixed level classes (L1/2) for at least 6 months.

Fri 10, Sat 11 and Sun 12 Jan: 8.30 -10.30am each day

A new year heralds in an opportunity to manifest more compassion, unity and health into life. This can be experienced in working with yoga to re-establish good habits and maybe even create some new ones! To love life, and all it’s nuance, internal and external, is always the goal for us as humans.    

This intensive will help to build more strength, stamina, mental clarity, flexibility and most importantly sensitivity – all the hallmarks of a yoga practice. Students will need to have minimum 6-12 months of current Iyengar yoga experience and be familiar with inversions or their alternatives.

Cost: $155 full Intensive | $55 single session (minimum 2 days attendance is required).

Back Care Series

With Tracey –
Sunday 2 Feb – Sunday 9 March: 4-5.30pm 

This six-week series is designed to enhance spinal awareness and teach techniques to re-create space in the spine and strengthen, align, release, support and stabilise the spine during postures. Students will work intelligently to their own level in order to expand self awareness and deepen their practice within this framework. Suitable for students with common back issues or those looking to avoid back issues.

January Foundation Course

Want to learn yoga? What better time than at the start of the new year! Learn the basics of Iyengar yoga in a systematic way, with a steady group and teacher. Good for beginners to Iyengar yoga, as well as existing students who want to revisit the foundations, or returning after a break.

These courses introduce foundational standing poses, seated poses and shoulderstand. Students with some experience may, depending on their readiness, progress to foundational twists (standing and seated), preliminary backbends, and headstand preparation.

Date: Sunday 4-5.15pm January 5, 12, 19 and 26.

28 November to 30 November

This small retreat for a maximum of 6 people is at North Avoca beach. The location is very special. You will be staying in a beach house with direct access to the sands of North Avoca beach and a 180 degree view of the ocean. North Avoca is only 90 minutes drive from Sydney. Suitable for all levels of Iyengar yoga practitioners.

What to bring:
Comfortable clothes for yoga and leisure, jumper, raincoat, swimmers, walking shoes/sneakers, towels, sun hat, sun cream, toiletries.Your own personal yoga mat is recommended (please advise if you will need to borrow a mat)Any yoga props you may have. There will be some props available for you to use.
